08 Jan SCCA Majors at Sebring
With the announcement of running the #07 Ford Performance Mustang Boss 302 in the Trans Am Series TA4 class, Brian and his team at DWW Motorsports decided to use the factory specs of the new Mustang to their advantage and get some test racing in with the club SCCA Majors tour at Sebring Intl Raceway, to start what is sure to be a great season of racing.
Having come from a few seasons in the Pirelli World Challenge and IMSA CTSCC in his Nissan 370Z, Brian was eager to get behind the wheel of the new Mustang, especially at a track he knows as well as Sebring. The SCCA Majors is a national tour that has some of the best club racing on the planet. Luckily the Mustang Boss 302 trim is not only legal for TA4 but also perfect for Touring 3 in SCCA with nearly no modifications.
Right out of the gate with a new season and new car, Brian and the #07 Mustang were fast. Qualifying 2nd and getting a great start to the main race, quickly moving to the front of the field after the first few laps. Unfortunately after a great weekend of fast laps, the differential had a failure when Brian was in P1 after a few minutes into the race and ended up finishing the race early for the #07 Ford Performance Mustang Boss 302. It wasn’t the result the team was hoping for but it was certainly a great first weekend testing the car and getting it prepped for Rd1 of the Trans Am Series in Sebring a few weeks from now.
